Partner Connect—Saturday, August 16, 8 am – Noon, LBA Conference Room. This conference is sanctioned by the IMB and is a must for any team leaving the USA for a mission trip.  It teaches participants how to do missions right!  And, it teaches them how to not make costly mistakes that could hurt or hamper mission efforts in the future.  This is a fun conference and I have never had anyone complain about it being boring or too long.  Helps participants understand storying, spiritual warfare, historical missions practices, etc.

SPANISH WITH A MISSION – Our Spanish class, Spanish With a Mission, will kick off Monday, September 19th, 6 – 8pm.  The class is FREE but you do need to purchase a book.  You can order one online from Amazon.  Spanish With A Mission by Mirna Deborah Balyeat focuses on Spanish that you would need to use on a mission trip. You will learn coritos (church songs in Spanish), saludos (Spanish greetings), basic grammar rules, pronunciation, the alphabet, numbers, useful phrases, how to witness in Spanish, and host of other useful things.  The book comes with rights to use the audio teaching aids found on the internet. If you plan on ministering in Latin America it sure makes the trip more enjoyable when you can communicate in Spanish! If you have any background in Spanish you will really enjoy the course but even if you have never taken a lesson in Spanish you can learn. It’s a fast paced coursethat only last 12 consecutive weeks and will end well before Christmas!  Just give us a call at 601.483.1419  and let us know you plan to attend!

Hodgins Home Project – The remodeling of the home that will house former IMB missionary Cindy Hodgins is going great.  Thanks to all who have donated time, materials, expertise, and money.  There is a need for more funds due to some unforeseen work that was needed in the bathrooms.  If you or your church would like to participate in this ministry effort, it’s not too late!  Please send the checks to the Lauderdale Baptist Association with a note stating that the funds are for the Hodgins Project.  Most of you know that Ray and Cindy Hodgins were IMB missionaries serving in Mexico.  Ray passed away very unexpectedly this past year leaving his wife, Cindy, and their four children.  We want to help them remodel the family home so they have a great home base from which to continue to serve our Lord.

Lifegroup Conference – Allan Taylor, Director of Church Education Ministry at Lifeway Christian Resources, will be leading a Lifegroup conference at Northcrest Baptist Church August 5 & 6.  Friday, August 5th @ 6pm and Saturday, August 6th @ 8:30 am until noon.  Register online at NORTHCRESTBAPTIST.COM

Cooperative Program --  About half of your cooperative program dollars stay right here in Mississippi.  When you give to the Cooperative Program you are not just funding international missionaries; you are funding U.S. missionaries, Mississippi missionaries, new church plants in Mississippi, training events, orphanages, two wonderful camps in Mississippi, three Baptist colleges in Mississippi, programs to help the needy, a great staff at the MBCB, evangelism efforts across our great State, and a myriad of other ministries and projects that change lives.  Be sure your church is giving generously to the Cooperative Program!

Margaret Lackey State Missions Offering promotion:  Sunday, August 21st, AM or PM service.  The entire Mission Strategy team from our MBCB will be available to our churches on August 21st for either the AM or PM service.  There is no cost to any church that wishes to participate.  You can take any one of the team for your AM or PM service for 10 minutes or for the entire worship service to give a real “push” to the Margaret Lackey State Missions Offering.  Many of your congregants do not know just how much this offering helps your church and your association. These men and women can help your church to understand the importance of the offering.  The team is composed of:

Ken Rhodes – Associate Executive Director for Missions Strategy

Mike Ray – Missions Mobilization Director

Don Gann – Men’s Ministry Director and Disaster Relief Director

Johnny Ervin – Church Planting Director

Lloyd Lunceford – Collegiate Ministries Director

Jennie Taylor – Collegiate Ministries Associate

After the worship service, all participating churches’ pastor and spouse are invited to enjoy a meal together at one of our local restaurants.  Again, there will be no expenses to the church, even the meal is covered by the  MBCB.

If you would like to participate, please contact Bro. Greg or Jamie Smith at the LBA office.
